Details: Elk Haven Ranch is a hideaway within the vast mountain wilderness of Cibola County, New Mexico. This 4,320 acre deeded elk sanctuary is near the quiet village of Ramah. The Cibola National Forest adjoins the northern and western ranch boundaries along a four mile frontier providing access to thousands of acres of national forest land. Elk Haven is near the Ramah Navajo Indian and the Zuni Indian Reservations. Amazing ruins and cliff dwellings of these ancient people are just a few of the spectacular sights viewed while in route to Elk Haven Ranch. The ranch is one of the largest contiguous tracts of deeded land within the New Mexico Game Management Unit 10 core occupied Elk Range. This region contains the world class Zuni Elk herd that is in high demand for both rifle and bow hunters. This is truly an “Elk Haven” thus the ranch name! Other wildlife includes trophy mule deer, Merriam turkey, Black bear, Mountain lion, and other natural wildlife. This sparsely populated area remains wild and scenic with tremendous view of the predominately Ponderosa Pine forest, occasional Aspen glades, Pinion Juniper and scrub oak providing wonderful habitat. The ranch ranges from 7,200 to 8,600 feet elevation with the Continental Divide stretching throughout the ranch, as well as, lots of spring feed water tanks. The ranch is improved with a beautiful 1,984 sq. lodge built in 2003. There are 3 bedrooms, large open living/kitchen/dining area with and open loft area. There is also a 1999 Solitaire double wide out fitters home located just at the entrance of the ranch providing over flow accommodations or out fitters stay. This is a very must see ranch, be sure to check out the ranch view dates or call for your private appointment. Gates remain locked.
